Vol 22 (2025): 2025 Edition of Continuous Flow Publications

Upon opening volume 22/2025 of the Especiaria journal, we begin the countdown to the end of the first quarter of the 21st century. While we keep a confident gaze towards the future, we also revisit the past, whose memory still evokes latent and threatening images. Nonetheless, we reaffirm our commitment to knowledge and to publishing critical and awareness-raising themes.

At the beginning of this year, we present a thematic Dossier entitled “Dossier 1964-1985: Old and New Authoritarianisms, Memories, and Transitional Justice.” It brings profound reflections and multiple perspectives that delve into the raw essence of Brazilian history. The articles provide essential clarifications, revisiting the vivid colors of violence and portraying the 21 years of totalitarian rule in Brazil, sustained by the support of American imperialism.

Following this, in addition to continuing the careful publication of articles submitted to the continuous flow system, we will launch a new Dossier with the theme “The Contribution of Florestan Fernandes' Thought and the Incompleteness of Brazilian Democracy.” This initiative aims to reflect on the social inequalities present in the country's economic, political, and social reality. Such inequalities, rooted in the naturalization of the extermination of native peoples and discriminatory practices, have contributed to perpetuating a culture of fear and hatred against the underprivileged classes.

Especiaria is proud to be part of this historical moment and to contribute to ensuring that the ideas exposed in each article reveal the best of humanity. Writers not only denounce injustices but also, through their research, keep alive the dream of a fairer and more conscious society.
